With simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter interprets simultaneously and fluently as the speaker speaks. This kind of interpreting is difficult to implement, so one language combination is always interpreted by two interpreters sitting in the interpreting booth. Interpreters always take turns at interpreting for intervals of about 20 minutes. Simultaneous interpreting is used at conferences, seminars, presentations, lectures and live broadcasts.
For every interpretation, the interpreter must prepare thoroughly, study the background materials and professional terminology, or meet with the client to get the best possible idea of what the topic of interpretation will be.
